Promoting Health and Wellbeing
Join us in our mission to promote health and well-being in our community. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and create a better and healthier world for all. The mission of the RCDC is to promote and develop a strong, viable, and sustainable community within the boundaries of Rehoboth, through collaborative efforts of community members, local businesses, organizations, and government.

Our program and vision primarily consist of three key areas: food distribution, community advocacy, and health and well-being.
Food distribution
Our program not only addresses food insecurity but also fosters connection, dignity, and hope—creating a welcoming space where neighbors can support one another. By combining compassion with action, Rehoboth CDC ensures that no family goes hungry and that everyone has access to food that nourishes both body and spirit.
The Food Distribution Program at Rehoboth CDC is dedicated to fighting hunger and promoting wellness among immigrant, refugee, and low-income families in our community. Through partnerships with local farmers, food banks, and volunteers, we provide culturally familiar and nutritious foods that meet the unique dietary needs of the families we serve
Community advocate
Community advocates help families apply for healthcare, housing, and food assistance, while also raising awareness about issues such as mental health, education, and youth opportunities.
However, there is still a strong need for more Congolese voices at the tables where decisions are made. Too often, programs meant to serve immigrants are created without input from those who live the experience
Empowering Congolese leaders through training, mentorship, and partnership ensures that policies reflect real community needs.
True advocacy is not only about changing systems — it’s about changing lives.
In closing, advocacy is the heartbeat of empowerment for the Congolese community in Washington.
It gives a voice to those who have long been unheard and turns struggle into strength. Through advocacy, families learn to navigate systems, claim their rights, and shape the policies that affect their daily lives.
Health and Wellbeing
With social, cultural, and economic struggles, the health challenges faced by the Congolese community in Washington are complex and often interconnected. Many Congolese families arrive after years of hardship, having endured war, forced migration, and life in refugee camps with limited access to medical care.
Many families arrive with untreated physical and emotional trauma from war, displacement, and years spent in refugee camps, yet accessing proper healthcare in the U.S. can be overwhelming.
Actual situation of Congolese in Washington
Unfortunately, the Congolese community in Washington continues to face significant health challenges that are deeply connected to their migration experiences and cultural barriers.
Language differences, lack of interpreters, and limited understanding of the healthcare system often prevent Congolese immigrants from seeking timely medical help.
Summary: When we make sure every Congolese family in Washington has access to healthy and familiar food, we are not just feeding bodies—we are strengthening culture, restoring dignity, and building a community where everyone can thrive.
Our Impact

In response to rising health concerns, we have implemented community health initiatives focusing on preventive care and wellness education. By collaborating with local healthcare providers and volunteers, we aim to improve the overall health and wellbeing of our community.
Advocacy and Support
We actively advocate for accessible healthcare and essential support services for vulnerable populations. By raising awareness and mobilizing resources, we work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive community for all.
Nutrition Assistance
Recognizing the importance of nutrition, we provide assistance programs that ensure access to healthy and nutritious food for individuals and families facing food insecurity. Our goal is to address immediate needs and promote long-term food security.
Global Solidarity Relief Efforts
In times of international crisis, we’ve extended our reach beyond borders—responding with speed, empathy, and action. From aiding refugees to supporting disaster-affected communities, we’ve worked alongside local partners to deliver immediate relief and lay the groundwork for recovery
